My Hajj Experience Series | #18 My Hajj Book (Free Download)

When I first made this book I had no idea I would be sharing it with everyone so many years later.  It was my dad that told me I had done a good job and it would be useful for others too.  Back then  I didn't think much of it.

My Hajj Experience Series | #16 Saying Goodbye

Saying goodbye is the hardest thing to do but the time has come.  The moment we haven't been waiting for.  I never count the days when I'm here because I don't want to know how many days I have left before I have to leave.  I rarely know what day it is!

My Hajj Experience Series | #15 When In Madinah

From the moment you step into Madinah, you'll notice instantly how different it is to Makkah.  Makkah is super busy with its everyday hustle and bustle whilst Madinah on the other hand is the total opposite.  Madinah is so peaceful and calm.  Everything is a lot more relaxed, even the cars are quiet and it's no wonder as the greatest man to walk this Earth is resting right there in the heart of this beautiful city we all know and love.

My Hajj Experience Series | #14 Hajj Mabrook

It's the final day of Hajj and it's the day you've been looking forward to.  To finally be able to complete your Hajj and each step that comes with it.

There's only one more thing left to do and that's throwing your pebbles at the three Jamaraat for one last time.  Today's going to be a very busy day as everyone prepares to get ready to leave.  In some ways it's a bittersweet moment as you leave behind what's been your home for the last 5 days mixed with the emotions of knowing you are so close to completing this blessed journey.

My Hajj Experience Series | #12 At The Jamaraat

Today is the first day you'll be throwing your pebbles at the Jamaraat, but only the big one, not the other two.  You'll be doing that the following two days before the end of Hajj.  You may be feeling a little scared and it's ok, but don't be as things have changed so much that it's become a lot easier than it used to be.

My Hajj Experience Series | #11 When In Muzdalifah

You've finally made it to Muzdalifah and you'll see it all looks the same!  It's easy to get lost here if you're not careful but don't worry I'm sure you'll have made plenty of friends by now, so venturing out to do wudhu shouldn't be a problem.

My Hajj Experience Series | #10 When In Arafat

I wouldn't blame you for feeling a little nervous today.  I know I was.  In some ways it feels like you're about to meet Allah and I suppose it really is a little bit like that.  Today is the day that you're going to be standing there in the plain of Arafat and everything you say is going to be between you and Him.  And everyone is in the same boat as you.  Your purpose is to please Allah alone and ask for forgiveness along with so much more.

My Hajj Experience Series | #9 When In Mina

Today is a big day for you as it's the beginning of Hajj.  It's the first day and you've made it to Mina.  For some reason the bus driver always gets lost on the way to Mina, but you can't really blame him because everything looks the same!  It can be a bit daunting venturing out of your tent alone too because any way you look, again, it's all the same.  But you soon get used to it as Mina is kind of like your base for Hajj.

My Hajj Experience Series | #8 The Day Before Hajj

It's finally here, the day before Hajj and the moment you've been waiting for.  All this preparation you've done and now it's time to put it all into practice.  Don't be nervous because you've got this.  I know I was, but not because I didn't know what to do but because I was afraid of doing it all wrong or making a mistake.  But trust me Allah is with you all the way and you'll be fine.

My Hajj Experience Series | #7 When In Makkah

Sorry this post is looong!  But I had to include everything becasue I don't want you to miss out, so sit back, relax and take it all in.

When you finally reach Makkah it will have been almost 24 hours since you've been travelling so I would advise you to take some time to have a good rest and re-energise.  Don't rush into doing your Umrah especially if it's your first time.  Don't think, 'oh, I can get out of my Ihram if I do my Umrah'.  There's no harm in waiting a couple of hours to get yourself prepared and ready to take on the next part of your journey.   Think about the reward instead.

My Hajj Experience Series | #6 Let's Get Packing!

You probably already have an idea of what you need to take along with you, but there are some essential items that you can't be without.  The last thing you want to be doing is going out to search for it.  It'll waste a lot of your time, although pretty much everything is available should you need it.

My Hajj Experience Series | #5 Spiritual Preparation

From the moment you make your intention to go for Hajj your spiritual journey has begun.  Something inside you has already blossomed like a flower when you made that first step towards Hajj.  The intention to be able to fulfill one of the five pillars of Islam is a huge decision and one that we can't all make so easily.   After all, being able to go on this journey isn't entirely our own decision.  It is an invitation from the Almighty.  You have been given this opportunity to make this journey of a lifetime and so it is up to you to make it count.

My Hajj Experience Series | #4 Mental Preparation

Preparing yourself mentally in terms of being able to control yourself in all aspects as you are faced with challenges that you're not used to in a completely different environment is very difficult.  The only way you can overcome this is to be able to change your outlook and takes things as they come.  My mantra is 'go with the flow'.  I stick by that and it always helps.

My Hajj Experience Series | #3 Physical Preparation

Walking! Yup, that's right, walking!  I never really thought that this was something I had to even think about.  I mean I walk everyday around the house so isn't that enough!  It's normal so it's something that doesn't really matter.  But, it does!  Because you'll be doing a lot of walking and not just during the 5 days of Hajj.  You'll be walking from the moment you leave your home and especially when you get there.

My Hajj Experience Series | #2 Preparation

As with everything preparation is key.  It is the most important thing to do.  To make sure you know what you are doing and what you need to be prepared for.  For Hajj there are a lot of things you need to prepare yourself for and you can start doing those things now if you haven't already.

My Hajj Experience Series | #1 Introduction

If you've been reading my blog, you'll know that I don't usually talk about my faith.  If I do, then it's usually fashion related.  Even then, it's not in depth, it's just fashion.  So this is a completely different kind of post for my blog.  I've been thinking about doing it for a while now and so I finally decided to go for it.  I have so much to say and talk about Hajj that I thought it would be a good idea to share my experience, tips and advice with you.
