My Blush and Grey Mood Board

Lately, I've been really loving mood boards and I've been busy admiring them on pinterest.  Since I got completely lost in all the gorgeous looking pictures full of colour, textures, styles and designs, I completely forgot to pin them.  I think it's time for me to make my own board on pinterest and clearly label it MOOD BOARDS (obviously!), so that I can keep them all in one place.  I think I'm heading towards a new obsession and this time I'm going to take it by the horns and go ahead and create my very own right here on the blog.

Re-writing my first ever post | Green Love

If you read my previous post on my reaction to my first ever blog post, then you'll know what I'm doing right here.  My first post was called Green Love and as you know in my opinion it wasn't up to scratch.  So here's Green Love re-done.

Reacting to my first ever blog post

I typed out my first ever blog post on 2nd April 2014.  The first proper one after I introduced myself.  Looking back after almost 3 years of blogging I can definitely see a big change.  I didn't really know as much about blogging as I do now and I feel like it really shows in my earlier posts.

RECIPE | Al Baik Style Chicken

If you've ever tried this chicken then you'll know that THIS crispy coated chicken is the one every one can't stop talking about.  The original is of course from the well known take out, Al Baik, in the Middle East.  It's crispy on the outside with a spicy flavouring in the centre.  It's the ultimate fried chicken and once you've tried it, you'll never go back.

How To Wear The Masculine Coat

So how do you wear a masculine coat?  Well, you can go one way or another.  There's no right or wrong way to style this classic piece.  You can opt for the usual roll neck or why not change it up a little and go for something different? That's exactly what I decided to do.

One of my favourite posts amongst many are 'Get This Look' ones, so I thought it was time for me to have a go.  Usually, I find it a bit of a chore to look for each individual item that best looks like the original but I'm getting back into blogging and I must say I'm quite enjoying it so far.

Pinterest Finds | Cream, Green & Pink

There's a couple of reasons why I decided to do another Pinterest Finds post.  Firstly it's been a long time since my previous one and so I'm definitely due another one.  And secondly, but more importantly, I was inspired by Twenty Five Stars Tumbler Tuesday post.

Autumn Wishlist

I know it's already November!  Can you believe it!?  I know I can't which is why this post is late.  I should have posted this one back in October but I think it's just hit me that Summer is well and truly over.  I was clinging on to Summer for dear life and although I'm sad to see it go, it's time to finally welcome Autumn.

How to Style the Pleated Skirt

I know it's been ages since we last met but I guess it's better late than never!  Right?  I've seen the pleated skirt around for a while now and thought it would be a good idea to do a style post of my own on how to wear the pleated skirt.  There's so many ways to wear this gorgeous number so I went for the t-shirt look.

6 Modest Dresses From The High Street

It's not often that you stumble upon a piece of clothing from the High Street that's hijab friendly or should I say modest.  Usually, with the low neck lines, spaghetti straps and short sleeves we're left feeling a little hot and bothered covered in layers of clothing trying to make that one dress you love, modest! During the colder months, it's not too bad but for warmer climates wearing a long sleeve top underneath can leave you feeling sweaty and sticky.  That's a look I'm sure you're definitely not going for.

So I did a little bit of browsing online and found 6 modest dresses from the High Street that are perfect for covering up in all the right places.

Review | A new pair of glasses from The Glasses Shop

I've been wearing glasses since I was a kid and when I first got them I was over the moon.  Many years later though, when I hit my teens, I stopped wearing them and was the total opposite.  I hated them so much and off they went to the back of the cupboard.  They'd make an appearance now and then but only when I knew no-one would see me!

I haven't even been for an eye test in a while and I really need to get it sorted, so when The Glasses Shop got in touch with me, I thought it would give me a nudge to finally make an appointment.  If you saw the state of my current glasses, you'd be in for a big shock!  They're in bad shape and in desperate need of replacement.  As they're rimless they've completely lost they're shape because they don't even stay on!  If I look down they fall off! It's actually embarrassing.

Saying goodbye is the hardest thing to do but the time has come.  The moment we haven't been waiting for.  I never count the days when I'm here because I don't want to know how many days I have left before I have to leave.  I rarely know what day it is!

My Hajj Experience Series | #15 When In Madinah

From the moment you step into Madinah, you'll notice instantly how different it is to Makkah.  Makkah is super busy with its everyday hustle and bustle whilst Madinah on the other hand is the total opposite.  Madinah is so peaceful and calm.  Everything is a lot more relaxed, even the cars are quiet and it's no wonder as the greatest man to walk this Earth is resting right there in the heart of this beautiful city we all know and love.

My Hajj Experience Series | #14 Hajj Mabrook

It's the final day of Hajj and it's the day you've been looking forward to.  To finally be able to complete your Hajj and each step that comes with it.

There's only one more thing left to do and that's throwing your pebbles at the three Jamaraat for one last time.  Today's going to be a very busy day as everyone prepares to get ready to leave.  In some ways it's a bittersweet moment as you leave behind what's been your home for the last 5 days mixed with the emotions of knowing you are so close to completing this blessed journey.

I wouldn't blame you for feeling a little nervous today.  I know I was.  In some ways it feels like you're about to meet Allah and I suppose it really is a little bit like that.  Today is the day that you're going to be standing there in the plain of Arafat and everything you say is going to be between you and Him.  And everyone is in the same boat as you.  Your purpose is to please Allah alone and ask for forgiveness along with so much more.

Today is a big day for you as it's the beginning of Hajj.  It's the first day and you've made it to Mina.  For some reason the bus driver always gets lost on the way to Mina, but you can't really blame him because everything looks the same!  It can be a bit daunting venturing out of your tent alone too because any way you look, again, it's all the same.  But you soon get used to it as Mina is kind of like your base for Hajj.

My Hajj Experience Series | #7 When In Makkah

Sorry this post is looong!  But I had to include everything becasue I don't want you to miss out, so sit back, relax and take it all in.

When you finally reach Makkah it will have been almost 24 hours since you've been travelling so I would advise you to take some time to have a good rest and re-energise.  Don't rush into doing your Umrah especially if it's your first time.  Don't think, 'oh, I can get out of my Ihram if I do my Umrah'.  There's no harm in waiting a couple of hours to get yourself prepared and ready to take on the next part of your journey.   Think about the reward instead.

Get Ready For Summer with A Kaftan

One of the things I love about Summer is that I can finally wear my kaftan.  Kaftans are great for holidays and I think for everyday wear in summer too since they're very comfortable and loose fitting, which is exactly what you need during the hot and sticky months.  And not only that, but you can find them in a wide range of colours and styles so there's definitely something out there for everyone.

How to Style The Spring Pantone Colour 2016 | Rose Quartz & Serenity

As you all know I don't usually go for the pastel colours because I much prefer the darker tones.  Having said that though, I don't mind adding a touch of the lighter shades to my outfit in small quantities.

So when I was approached by Farfetch to style the Spring Pantone colours, I had to say yes because one of my favourite things to do is putting together an outfit.

I have to say this years colours, Rose Quartz and Serenity, are absolutely stunning and just perfect for Spring.  They look effortlessly beautiful together and on their own too.  The perfect colour combination of a warm and cool tone blending together to create a harmonious shade that can be worn by everyone.

Personally, I wouldn't wear an outfit that screams pink and blue.  You don't want to be wearing just the two tones on their own so choose one of the colours as a statement piece and add a complimentary colour to balance out the whole look.  That's exactly what I've done with my casual chic look for Spring.

How To Beat Bloggers Block

There comes a time in a blogger's life when you go through the dreaded bloggers block.  I went through it for a long time just recently and I thought it was never going to end!  At the beginning I think I was pushing myself, almost forcing myself to come up with something to blog about.  But no matter how much I tried I kind of just hit a brick wall.  It was like a cycle.  Every evening I would be like, 'ok, that's it, tomorrow I'm going to blog about something'.  The next morning, nothing.  Literally, nothing at all!  And it continued on and on and on.  Eventually I realised I just had to ride it out and one day I'd be able to get back on the horse.
